Punta Gorda Isles, also known as PGI, is a deed restricted waterfront community. With the exception of a few homes that are on St. Andrews Golf Course, all the homes look over wide waterway canals or beautiful large basins. One of the first water front communities in Punta Gorda, first launched in 1957, it has grown over the years, providing a wide range of available homes, along with newly constructed homes and condos. New construction continues to take place and there are privately owned lots still available. A wonderful feature of PGI is the maintenance of the cement sea walls and canals that is provided by the City of Punta Gorda.
The Punta Gorda Civic Association is truly a rich resource to its members. Their building, conveniently located on the edge of PGI, near downtown, provides everything from recreational groups, community involvement to medical equipment that can be rented at a nominal fee. There are individual classrooms that house a variety of activities for all.
