Living in Downtown, Historic Punta Gorda
The downtown Punta Gorda area offers condos, new and historic homes. It’s great to be ‘in the heart’ of all the activities going on in this quaint and vivacious city! Many of the town’s special events are walking distance from this neighborhood. New bike paths are easily accessible, waterfront parks are close by and a variety of restaurants are minutes away. Preservation of our rich history is a priority, as Punta Gorda has secured State Historic District status. The city Streetscape Program has restored an old Florida atmosphere to downtown streets adding brick paths, old fashioned street lamps and benches. As you stroll along some of our brick streets one can view old southern grandeur of tin roofs, wide porches and old royal palms.
Waterfront Living in Punta Gorda Isles (PGI) & Burnt Store Marina
With the exception of a few homes on St. Andrews Golf Course, homes in PGI overlook wide waterway canals and beautiful large basins. A wide range of homes, along with newly constructed homes and condos are available. New construction continues. 2 wonderful features of PGI are the Punta Gorda city-maintained cement seawalls and canals provided by the City of Punta Gorda for an economical yearly assessment.
The Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association is truly a rich resource to its members. Located on the edge of PGI, near downtown, it encompasses recreational groups and clubs, community programs and a variety of different size meeting rooms.
Burnt Store Marina is a large, gated complex with numerous property owners’ associations and condominium complexes. This area also has a large marina/restaurant for the general public to use. Technically this complex is located in Lee County but has Punta Gorda phone exchanges and postal delivery.
